San Francisco seems to peak with the new age, faux spiritual, esalian, self-obsessed, demon seduced, hyper-rationalist, godless vibe. In its new age promise, it seeks intimacy without relationship, sex without commitment, community without trust, and devotion without God. You can find this cold, arrogant, cultural virus across most major Western cities around the world. In New York, it’s about being the coolest on the block. In LA it’s about being the loudest on the news. The majority have moved away from the sanctity of family and marriages, seduced into poly insanity, hook-up hedonism and self-obsessive gratification.
The energy of these cultures is directed towards actualising and serving the self, free from any responsibility to the world. As if the world isn’t built on strong families, who put children first. The self has become the icon and the idol that people religiously worship. Just look at Instagram. It’s a culture that confuses loving yourself, with worshipping yourself and begging the worship of others. It’s a one-word sleight of hand, a nifty trick employed by the devil, to imprison the souls of the world. All deployed to move man away from God.
The irony is the loneliness and emptiness of this illusionary world is faux intimacy or fulfilment, all as a front for getting the itch of being like a god scratched like an addict. The drink, the needle, the condom, the followers, the rolex, the delusion. None of us are completely safe from the illusion. You know you’ve entered the clown show when a leader in one of these ‘self-first’ communities refers to themself as a goddess and demands to be worshipped like God himself.
The devil’s greatest trick is to have you worship others first, yourself second, and then demand others to do the same third. It’s a circle of satanic humiliation. And like with heroin, the devil promises his subjects hit after hit. From feeling like a god to then feeling like a worthless nothing. But it’s all a lie. The Buddhists had it right, although they may not have even meant it this way. Yes, the self is an illusion, but it’s worse than that. It’s the gateway to demonic possession without people even knowing it.
The root cause of being possessed by idolatry gets ignored in these self-centred scenes ie. bali, tulum, ibiza, byron bay, berlin are great examples. Silicon Valley is no different. People turn their back on God in favour of the ‘self’. Or more acutely put, the devil, without even realising it. It’s not that humans are the devil or inherently evil, but they get enslaved by demons when they worship themselves or idolise others. They trade their soul to the devil in exchange for self-inflation and the devil takes over their flesh in return. That’s the Faustian bargain they unknowingly make.
Self-obsession is the way the devil recruits his minions. Billions of people have a lukewarm relationship with God but have a red-hot relationship with feeding the possessed spirit that drives their insecurity. The insecurity is a demon, because the demon is in control. No wonder you feel insecure. You’ve put man over the God. And yourself as the lord. Most just don’t even know they have done this type of deal. The antidote to this madness is surprisingly simple. It’s so simple and honest that it will be denied by those who worship themselves. Pray with an authentic heart to the Father who made you. Surrender into the arms of and lord who loves you. Reach out and hug God, and get over yourself.
It’s true intimacy. Intimacy with God is intimacy with life. It’s true love, not romance or possession. Reverence humbles the lust and thirst for self-gratifying spirals of delusion that these communities feed off. I speak from experience. I’ve tasted both worlds. Once you see the lie for what it is, you’ll feel born again. You don’t even need to believe in God, but at the very minimum, it’s experiencing an authentic love beyond yourself. And like the love of a mother with a newborn, the grace of God will wake up to the lies of the devil that have you in his grip.
