There are good men and then there are men who are good at being men. Good men normally fall into the category of nice guys. They play by the rules and get walked all over whilst the bad boy who steps outside the box finds a way to get what he wants. The dilemma is that the world respects the man who collects the bag. Whatever the bag, whatever the cost. Perfect example? The cocaine dealer.
The guy who sells poison to any willing buyer, friend or foe, and converts wads of cash as seed capital for a sideshow enterprise that covers and cleans their dirty trail. Normally a cafe, a cement company or a property venture. Any facade to hide the truth. These men drive around in the latest sportscars with not a squint of shame in their eyes. In their world, they are ordained by God to profit at any cost.
The problem mankind faces in this dilemma is: who is the better man? The broke nice guy who chose the cubicle career in favour of a clean conscience. Or the faux-minted wannabe gangster who has sold his way out of being an invisible loser., and his soul in the process. The dilemma is truly gut-wrenching for man to ponder. To be ‘clean’ in the eyes of God or to be detached from the consequences of ‘evil’ action. Gangsters are praised. Wimps are mocked. But where is God in all of this?
If you are Tony Montana, the only God is the paper that buys your freedom. If you are Ned Flanders, you pray the do-gooding everyman is taken care of. I’d rather make mafia-sized profits without poisoning the pond. I’d rather gain respect through deeds that cannot be questioned in the eyes of man or God. But don’t be so sure: to pass on profit for holier ideals does not guarantee wealth or salvation. And this is the great test of man. How would you like to run your race?
No matter how moral you may get, every man’s answer will reveal their highest values. To sell a bag and feed one’s family will always be justifiable in the eyes of men seeking their lot. And in a world of corporate shills, legally dumping pills and forcibly needling arms, how can you blame an individual for wanting to fight dirty and exit the corrupt system? Even if it’s at the expense of nice fools. I don’t aspire to be either. The nice guys, the corporate slaves or the ugly thugs that run the world. God willing, there is another way.
Rant Complete.
