A mother is feeling underappreciated in her family and is resigned that her husband and children will ever be able to take care of themselves. She handles everything around the house, puts her own needs last and takes care of everyone but herself. She doesn’t voice her frustration about her exhaustion in order to keep the peace. She sees herself as a “doormat” in her own home. This is her current reality. It has been like this for as long as she can remember.
She is unsatisfied with her results in this area of life. Tired of being taken advantage of, not being respected for her efforts and in her frustration, has withdrawn how she really feels. Suppressing herself like a “stooge.” Not standing her ground, not saying no, not speaking up. Anger and sadness at her situation consumes her. Ultimately, her way of being, in her own words is ‘weak.’ She wants to get her assertiveness back. She is ready to let go of being a “door matt.” The possibility that inspires her is being a “powerhouse.” As a powerhouse, it becomes clear that its been well over 7 years since she experienced this type of energy. She remembers the last time this reality was present. She remembers why she stopped being a powerhouse. She remembers why she stopped speaking her truth. To keep her family together. The only problem now is that her aliveness has come at the cost of playing the saviour in the family. As a “powerhouse,” saviour is no longer an option. She closes down her eyes. And goes to a moment in the future where ‘powerhouse’ is real. The result she wants to experience is obvious. The action she musty take is clear. Powerhouse is her possibility. Powerhouse is her reality. Simulation complete.
